DARK DAY: Mbappe’s broken nose overshadows his performance before recieving ‘rubbish’ yellow card for no reason meanwhile France still win Austria thanks to Wober own goal

When the French player got a blow to the face during their Euro 2024 group match against Austria, KYLIAN MBAPPE was left covered in blood.

After misjudging a header and banging his head on Austrian defender Kevin Danso’s shoulder, Mbappe seemed to break his nose. As a result, he will need to wear a mask for the rest of the tournament.

And Mbappe found himself booked in the strange five minutes that followed.

Mbappe's nose appeared to be broken following the collision

The recently signed Real Madrid player had to leave the pitch to receive medical attention for a broken nose, thus the referee had to send him back on the sidelines.

However, the 25-year-old decided to take matters into his own hands and returned to the pitch without the officials’ consent, rather than waiting politely to be introduced.

And with that, he fell to the ground and took a seat on the grass.

Mbappe was booked for re-entering the pitch without permission

“To go back out and sit on the pitch?,” he remarked in an ITV interview. It was a yellow card that he earned. It pains you to see it.”

Fans commiserated with Mbappe for his unfortunate injury.

One person said on social media, “I think that nose doesn’t look good.”

Another person said, “We’re sorry for you, Mbappe. Man, calm down.”

The star plonked himself on the turf after walking on from the sideline

“Just a hunch but I think Mbappe MIGHT have broken his nose,” jokingly said a third.

Due to his injury, Mbappe was eventually replaced in the ninetieth minute by Olivier Giroud.

Didier Deschamps was also shown yellow for his involvement

Mbappe had been playing brilliantly before leaving, but he had an incident he would rather forget.

The former PSG player had a clear opportunity to score but, surprisingly, missed it.
