HAPPY LAND: Harry Maguire unwinds at luxury five-star spa hotel in Turkey after Man Utd star was left out of England squad

England star Harry Maguire has been seen enjoying a luxury five-star hotel holiday in Turkey after missing out on a place in Gareth Southgate’s Euros squad.

The Manchester United centre-back, capped 63 times by his country, was knocking back drinks by the poolside at the Maxx Royal Belek resort yesterday.

He was there with his family after he was left out of the England squad for the 2024 European Championship in Germany which gets under way tomorrow.

The host nation will face Scotland in the opening match tomorrow night, before England take on Serbia this Sunday – ahead of facing Denmark and Slovenia.

The resort where Maguire has been staying is a five-star golf and spa hotel, located on the coast of Belek.

A room can set you back £554 a night for a suite or £865 for a two-bedroom family room – while the most deluxe accommodation there costs up to £6,400 per night.

A fellow holiday-goer, who spotted Maguire, said: ‘He is in very good spirits.

‘He is looking very relaxed. He must have booked the holiday very last minute – they only announced the squad a few days ago.’

Maguire, 31, has previously been a mainstay of Southgate’s side – scoring at both the 2018 World Cup and the previous European Championship in 2021.

But he has been dogged by a calf injury in recent months, forcing him to miss Manchester United’s FA Cup final victory over Manchester City on May 25.

After he was left out of the confirmed England squad last weekend, Maguire posted an emotional message on Instagram about his disappointment.

He wrote: ‘I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer.

‘Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf.

‘Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted. For me, representing England is the highest honour. It means everything to me.

‘If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the country.

‘Go and win it boys. Next, I will return to the supervision of the Manchester United medical team in order to prepare for next season.’

He was not the only high-profile axeing, with Southgate also leaving behind Manchester City’s Jack Grealish and James Maddison of Tottenham Hotspur.

The others discarded from an initial 33-player group were Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah and Curtis Jones, Burnley’s James Trafford and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.
