Following the announcement of his transfer to Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe received a message from his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
On Monday night, it was reported that the French player has joined the Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer, agreeing to a five-year deal.
Though rumours of a transfer have been circulating for months, Mbappe’s desire to play for Real Madrid dates back to his early years.
Mbappe posted a number of images of himself as a youngster visiting the Bernabeu and sporting Real Madrid gear on social media to announce the move.
Additionally, he uploaded a photo of himself with Ronaldo, who was a nine-year member of the team from 2009 to 2018.
During that year, Mbappe saw as the Portuguese sensation amassed 450 goals for the Spanish powerhouses—an accomplishment Ronaldo had promised to make upon the Frenchman’s signing with the team.
On Instagram, Ronaldo posted, “My turn to (watch).”
“Excited to see you light up the Bernabeu,” the emoji that had a powerful arm and a football was used.
Mbappe described his move as “a dream come true” in a statement.
“I’m overjoyed and honoured to have joined the @realmadrid club of my dreams.
“Nobody can truly comprehend my current level of excitement.
“Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support.”
Now, Mbappe will travel to Europe for the 2024 Summer Olympics with France, and in August, he will begin his new journey at Real Madrid.
