John Bishop delightfully brought up the fact that Jurgen Klopp’s wife Ulla Sandrock is just as well-liked in Liverpool during his heartfelt farewell to supporters this week.
John Bishop made a joke about his wife Ulla Sandrock, which had Jurgen Klopp laughing uncontrollably.
A final farewell was offered to the now-former Liverpool manager on Tuesday at a special event held at the M&S Bank Arena in the city. Journalist Peter McDowall and comedian Bishop hosted An Evening with Jurgen Klopp.
During a Q&A session, Klopp looked back on his tenure as manager and said that moving to Merseyside was the best decision he had ever made, second only to marrying Ulla back in 2005 when he was manager of Mainz.
“I will miss people, mostly,” he remarked. It’s the folks seated up there, my friends and colleagues with whom I have collaborated closely for the past eight and a half years. My entire family and I will be missing it.
Apart from getting married to Ulla, coming to Liverpool was unquestionably the best choice I’ve ever made in my life. It was astounding. She will cry now.”
Bishop took advantage of the thunderous acclaim from the sold-out audience to make light of his other half’s fame. “Well to be fair, if you decide to leave Ulla I don’t think you’ll sell out an arena tomorrow,” he joked.
Klopp laughed heartily, obviously taken aback by the remark. During their time in Liverpool, Ulla won over the locals.
She contributed time, energy, and financial resources to the community; during the pandemic in 2020, she made a “substantial” donation to the Formby Community Football Club, which helped to arrange for the delivery of food and medication.
Additionally, Ulla thanked the workers at a Formby Waitrose store by giving them £1,000 worth of food cards. She even managed to win over supporters before Klopp signed a contract at Anfield.
Back in the 2013–14 season, she persuaded him that leaving for Manchester United wasn’t the best decision. Furthermore, when he signed his contract extension for 2022, it was she who expressed a desire to continue.
The supporters in attendance on Tuesday expressed their gratitude to her by adding her name to Klopp’s in the chant, which was performed to the tune of Opus’s Live is Life. Now that they’re back in Marbella, where Klopp is having a long holiday from football, they’ve taken a plane out of England.
