For the 19th time all-time, Al-Hilal won the Saudi Pro League title, which was Neymar’s fourth win in five years.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr team lost the championship to Al-Hilal, who beat Al-Hazm 4-1 with two goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic. They did this with three games to spare. Following the game, Neymar had a party with his daughter and then with the other players in the locker room.
Neymar missed most of the season because he hurt his knee badly while playing for Brazil against Uruguay in October of last year. He is getting closer to coming back, but he won’t be able to play in any of Al-Hilal’s final games or the Copa America this summer. The 32-year-old superstar only played three times in the Saudi top flight before he was sent to the hospital for care. During that time, he set up two goals.
Al-Hilal still hasn’t lost in the Saudi Pro League this season; they’ve won 29 of their 31 games. The last time Jorge Jesus’ team lost was a 1-1 draw with Damac in September. Four players have scored 10 or more goals for the manager: Mitrovic (26), Malcom (14), Salem Al-Dawsari (13) and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Neymar’s dream of winning the Copa America is over, and he now has his 11th career league title. For the next few months, he will only focus on getting back to his best fitness level before Al-Hilal’s 2024–25 season. Ronaldo has done a great job at Al-Nassr, and the Brazilian should do the same if he can get close to his best form again.
