Rasmus Hojlund has struggled to score goals, therefore Gary Neville thinks he won’t develop into one of the greatest strikers in Premier League history at Manchester United. The Dane would rather be the team’s second striker.

The United forward had a scoring drought that ended at the beginning of the year, having managed just one goal in his previous six Premier League outings.

After spending £72 million to move from Italian team Atalanta to Old Trafford last summer, Hojlund has found it difficult to get into a routine while dealing with injuries in his Premier League debut, with United rarely appearing to be a threat in front of goal.

Rival supporters are eager to draw attention to Hojlund’s dismal goal total since the England captain joined Bayern Munich, and Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, recently disclosed that Harry Kane was his first option.

Despite not having played a full season in the English Premier League, the 21-year-old has been learning on the job at United and is the team’s most experienced striker. Former club legend Neville doesn’t think he will match the accomplishments of Sergio Aguero and Erling Haaland.

Neville stated on Sky Sports, “I think this is a kid that needs to be persevered with.” I had already looked at Ollie Watkins. I don’t think he will go down in Premier League history as one of the great strikers like Haaland or Aguero. 

He can, however, turn into an Ollie Watkins. You may look at someone that way, and I believe I can accomplish twenty goals.

“This season, I wish he was the second striker,” I spoke with Eric ten Hag last week, and I hope he was learning. He brought up Harry Kane. I believe you would see a totally different player if he were playing alongside or learning from Kane right now.

Secondly, he is twenty-one years old. He reminds me a little bit of Darwin Nunez and is a little bit rough in his effort to begin in his first season in the Premier League. His demeanor almost reminds me of Nicholas Jackson. 

Upon closer inspection, they appear to be projects. Right now, Manchester United has just one striker. The sole striker in the team is Manchester United. Put Anthony Martial out of your mind. Years have passed since he was there.

The thing that really interests me about Hojlund and Nunez is that, when given the opportunity, his shop conversion is up 22%, making him superior to both of them. 

You could be thinking, “Well, but that’s really something to work with,” at this point. He is only anticipated to score 7.4 goals, according to the expected goals at the bottom. 

He remarked, “You look at Nunez and Jackson, Jackson, they’re at 16.3 and 17, double.” “The service in delivery into him is poor.”

In response to Neville’s remarks, Jamie Carragher, a veteran of Liverpool, asked: “Is that good enough? Can United be happy that Hojlund isn’t among the best players in the Premier League?”

Carragher remarked, “I know he’s young, and I actually think he’s been brought in maybe a couple of years too early.”

In Sunday’s 1-0 home loss against Arsenal, Hojlund made his eighth Premier League start since his injury came back, but he again found it difficult to make an impact while being confined by William Saliba and Gabriel.

Fans of United are frustrated that wide players like Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford aren’t providing Hojlund with the kind of help he needs, with Neville attributing most of the striker’s issues in front of goal to them.

To be honest, this is the hardest introduction. to substitute a youthful striker into a faltering team in order to improve the team. There have been numerous changes in offense as well, even though we focus a lot on Manchester United’s defensive changes.

This young child has no idea when the ball will enter the box. No one is providing for him. When he wants the delivery, it’s not going into the box. He continued, “The inconsistent players around him are having an impact on him.”
