DEVIL FLAME: Man Utd star Mason Greenwood stirs up Almeria with 2 goals and 1 assist as show Pace, Skill and ruthless Finishing in Getafe’s Squad

Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood played 90 minutes in Getafe’s 3-1 win against La Liga basement side, Almeria, this afternoon.

With the hosts already resigned to relegation from the Spanish top flight, Getafe were hoping to continue their outside push for a place in the Europa Conference League next season.

It was a chance they grasped with both hands with a fine performance away from home, in which the United man was the star of the show.

Greenwood started in his familiar role on the right of front three in the Spanish sunshine, continuing his almost ever-present run for his loan club.

Indeed it was Getafe who started stronger and Greenwood had an early effort blocked with the Almeria defence visibly short on confidence.

It was a lack of confidence that was soon pounced upon by Getafe as Iliax Moriba robbed the home central defender before bearing down on goal with Greenwood close to his left.

Just before the half-hour mark, the midfield midfielder waited for the keeper to get involved before sending the ball to the United man, who had the easiest of tasks to tap home from six yards out.

But the goal gave the home team new life, and with five minutes left in the first half, Anthony Lozano gave them a well-deserved equalizer, bringing the score to even at the half.

Greenwood and his side came flying out of the traps in the second half and it wasn’t long before the United man had his second and Getafe’s lead was restored.

The forward burst into the home half before laying off Moriba who struck a fierce effort toward goal. His strike was too hot to handle and Greenwood was on hand to slot home the rebound from close range.

Getafe doubled their lead soon after as Jamie Mata grabbed a third just after the hour mark to put the game to bed.

Greenwood remained a constant threat on the counter for the visitors who controlled the rest of the game without much in terms of response from Almeria who showed why they will be playing in the second division next season.

His man-of-the-match display is another in a long line of excellent showings from Greenwood, who has been a huge hit since arriving in La Liga.

Whilst back home in Manchester, United laboured to a limp home draw with Burnley, Greenwood once more showed what Erik ten Hag’s side is missing.

Pace, skill and ruthless finishing have been badly lacking in United’s season and a player of Greenwood’s profile would certainly make a difference at Old Trafford.

However, the well-publicized nature of his omission from the squad means he is unlikely to be integrated into the fold at United but how the player must regret his actions that have rightly cost him his career with his boyhood club.
