VIRGIL VAN DIJK admits the Premier League will become a two-horse if Liverpool do not improve fast.

And as he addressed the Sky Sports cameras, their 32-year-old Dutch captain had some quite harsh words for his teammates.

“[We’re] Disappointed in so many ways,” he declared.

“I believe that everyone needs to examine themselves in the mirror, assess how they performed, and consider if they truly gave it their all. Is winning the league really what they want?

“It goes without saying that we are fighting, and we still have games tonight.

“However, we have no chance of winning the title if we play the way we did all day—that is, failing to win challenges and allowing the referee the chance to award a free kick as he did numerous times.

“It is a tough one and obviously we had to play much better against a side who are fighting relegation.”

Everton was denied an early opportunity to score from the spot by a VAR review.

But a stunning victory that allays their worries of relegation was secured by goals from Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin either side of halftime.

The legend of Liverpool, Jamie Carragher, feels that the writing is already on the wall, since Arsenal leads by three points and has a significantly better goal differential.

“They had plenty opportunities to win the game, but they are not quite clinical enough in either category just now.

“I do not think it is appropriate to become overly upset with the group or with Jurgen Klopp.

“It is been a great ride but it is Everton’s night.”
