Manchester City are through to the FA Cup final after edging a narrow 1-0 win against Chelsea.
Pep Guardiola picked a strong side for this Wembley encounter, making only four changes from the team that had suffered shootout defeat against Real Madrid on Wednesday. From the off, City looked out on their feet but fought hard throughout to stay in the game.
Poor finishing from Nicolas Jackson kept City level and Bernardo Silva scored a late goal to send more than 35,000 Blues home happy with the Double still on. Here are how the players rated.
Goalkeeper & Defence
Stefan Ortega: 7
Saved efforts from Palmer and Nicolas Jackson although his kicking was loose.
Kyle Walker: 6
Rusty again and lost the ball in key areas in the first half. Got sharper in the second and won a key battle with Nicolas Jackson.
John Stones: 5
Played more defensively as Akanji went forward. Awful lapse to let Jackson run half the pitch past him to get in on Ortega’s goal, and didn’t come out for the second half
Manuel Akanji: 5
Got turned a couple of times by Cole Palmer and his forward flurries left City exposed.
Nathan Ake: 6
Couldn’t create much and allowed too much danger down his flank. However, he was as calm as ever even under serious pressure
Midfield
Bernardo Silva: 6
Didn’t have a great game but popped up in the right place at the right time.
Rodri: 6
Couldn’t dictate the play but proved his worth by bailing his team-mates out on many occasions.
Phil Foden: 5
Had a couple of promising flashes but one of many players who still looked tired from Wednesday.
Attack
Kevin De Bruyne: 6
Julian Alvarez: 4
A poor display. Barely got involved and again looked uncomfortable leading the line.
Jack Grealish: 7
Worked like a trooper and held City’s disjointed midfield together until taken off.
Subs
Ruben Dias: 6
Did some useful sweeping up when Chelsea got in behind.
Jeremy Doku: 7
His crazed dribbles unlocked Chelsea and lit the fuse for the goal.
Oscar Bobb (N/A):
Replaced Alvarez in the 88th minute and has great touches
