A FORMER Liverpool player has told Mo Salah that this summer is the “perfect time” to quit the club – and suggested three potential replacements.
The Egyptian has achieved legendary status at Anfield thanks to his 209 goals since his arrival from Roma in 2017.
Mo Salah has been told that this summer is the ‘perfect’ time to leave Liverpool
Despite some injury concerns, the 31-year-old has struck the net 23 times this season; nonetheless, he still has a little over a year remaining on his deal.
Over the past 12 months, Salah has been linked to multiple moves; last summer, Liverpool is thought to have turned down a £200 million deal for the player from a Saudi Arabian club.
However, former Reds full-back Jose Enrique says it would be the ideal time for Salah to say goodbye as well, as manager Jurgen Klopp is leaving Merseyside at the end of the year.
After five years at Liverpool starting in 2011, the Spaniard stated to Grosvenor Sport that he believed Salah was truly attempting to go last summer and would leave if the appropriate deal came up.
“They received a genuine offer last summer for him, close to £200 million.
“Generally speaking, an offer like that indicates that the player and the club have already reached an agreement.
“I think Salah has already given his consent, and this summer I think he will finally travel to Saudi Arabia.”
“Jurgen Klopp is leaving, so now is the perfect time for Salah to go,” Enrique went on.
“It’s ideal for him since Liverpool is going through a new cycle and a lot of changes.
“I believe he’ll head to Saudi Arabia as this will probably be his last major contract.”
Enrique even offered three names, including two Premier League players, that Liverpool should consider pursuing as a Salah substitute.
“I think Muhammad Kudus could be a replacement for Salah,” he continued.
“I would have said that even in the summer, and he is obviously performing incredibly well for West Ham right now.
The Crystal Palace player Ebere Eze is another option, but there aren’t many clear alternatives available.
“Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich could be a possibility because of his current contract circumstances.”
“He is the kind of name they should use, and he might be a possibility.”
