Liverpool is responsible for pursuing their own Premier League championship.
With nine games left, the Reds are leading the table by two points. After battling to a 2-1 victory against Brighton, rivals Manchester City and Arsenal drew goallessly. This was the first game under Jurgen Klopp’s leadership.
However, Klopp is aware that the list of injuries is still too long, and he will want to have as many players available for the remaining games, especially because Liverpool is hoping to win the Europa League.
Liverpool plays two games this week. On Thursday, they play Sheffield United at Anfield, and on Friday, they go to Old Trafford to play their fierce rivals, Manchester United. Here’s a look at the injury report as of right now and the potential return dates for various players before those games.
Curtis Jones Ankle
The midfield player was substituted out of a 4-1 victory at Brentford on February 17 and has not played in nine games since. But now Jones is back in the team workouts.
Andy Robertson’s ankle
The left-back’s problem was incurred during Scotland’s 1-0 loss to Northern Ireland the previous week. Although Robertson’s problem is not as bad as initially thought, Sheffield United should not expect him to return.
Knee: Trent Alexander-Arnold
The vice captain of Liverpool has missed nearly two months of action due to an injury that worsened earlier in the season. This week, Alexander-Arnold might make a limited comeback to training, although the Reds will probably exercise caution.
Diogo Jota’s knee
The Portugal international was taken off a stretcher at Brentford and has not been available since. It appears that Jota and Alexander-Arnold are in comparable situations with regard to his return.
Atalanta (H), Thursday, April 11, or Crystal Palace (H), Sunday, April 14, might be the return match.
Alisson Becker’s tendon
The starting goalkeeper’s hamstring problem has kept him out of action for nearly two months. Alisson is another player who could return to some training this week.
Other: Stefan Bajcetic
The 19-year-old midfielder, who has been dealing with developing problems, underwent his own preseason regimen. This week, Bajcetic is scheduled to resume full training with the under-21 team. He will require some time and minutes to acclimate.
Hip Thiago Alcantara
Due to an ongoing issue, the midfielder has only been able to make one replacement appearance. As he has previously acknowledged, Klopp is unsure whether Thiago will play this season.
Joel Matip’s knee
The defender was injured nearly four months ago in his ACL. Matip may not play this season, despite the fact that he has been seen running outside once more.
Possible matchback: None
Ben Doak’s knee
The 18-year-old winger needed surgery after suffering a knee injury in December. He is still working for a comeback.
