Justin Reid, a safety with the Kansas City Chiefs, attempted to pull a practical joke on Chiefs Kingdom on April Fools’ Day by declaring his football retirement.
The 27-year-old, a two-time Super Bowl champion and key player in Andy Reid’s system, spoke on X on Monday morning, stating: “I’ve been in this cycle of injury, pain, rehab for the last four years or so.” I’ve felt confined by it.
“The only way I can survive is if I give up playing football.” It has made me no longer like this game.
‘Thank you everyone would supported me on this incredible journey! I love you all!’
The tweet was posted at around 8:30am in Kansas City, meaning many fans would have woken up to the news of one of their heroes calling it a day.

To the relief of many Kansas City supporters, Reid quickly clarified to them that he was kidding by tweeting the image of Jim Carry peeking out.
“I detest today.” A admirer replied, “Wake me up when April 2nd starts.”
“This was the first April Fools joke that worked for me, and it’s only 9:30am,” exclaimed someone else.
