This past week saw the final national team call-up of the season, and Real Madrid sent several players on international duty.
Although the first round of games went as planned, with no hazards or injuries to the team, the second round of games has already dealt a severe blow to Madrid.
This is due to Eduardo Camavinga’s apparent injury sustained while representing France in a friendly match versus Chile. Before the first half was over, the midfield player had to be replaced because it appeared that he had twisted his ankle.
This was the second injury sustained in the match; in the eleventh minute, Barcelona defender Jules Kounde had to replace injured Jonathan Clauss at right back.
With Carlo Ancelotti finally figuring out his ideal midfield trio, Camavinga has been an indispensable player for Real Madrid, particularly over the second half of the season.
Federico Valverde, Toni Kroos, and Camavinga will form the core of the Italian coach’s glitzy trident. With all of their players being skilled at playing deeper and more advanced roles, this dynamic is ideal for Madrid.
Even though Aurelien Tchouameni is still an integral member of the club, the recent defensive injury issue has forced him to substitute frequently at center defense.
Although Camavinga’s injury has not yet been given a timetable, he may miss this weekend’s match against Athletic Club as well as the Champions League first-leg match against Manchester City.
In order to attend the rematch at the Etihad Stadium, Madrid will be hopeful that the Frenchman can return in time.
