Real Madrid players contributed to all three of Brazil’s goals in a dramatic friendly that ended in a 3-3 draw that was decided at the last second at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
Dani Carvajal was the only Madridista to play for the home team when Spain began, and they had a great start. On minute twelve, Rodri, a midfielder for Manchester City, scored his first goal of the game from the penalty spot after Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal caused havoc when Wendell took him down in the box.
Dani Olmo’s superb solo goal 24 minutes later gave Spain a two-goal lead, although the lead would not last until halftime. Under duress, Unai Simón gave the ball away in his own box to Rodrygo Goes, who uncharacteristically chipped the Basque goalkeeper to score his first goal at the stadium since early February.
In the second half, Brazil rallied and leveled the score in just five minutes each side of halftime. They would then have the opportunity to rest Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo, who had both been in the starting lineup.
The entrance of Endrick Felipe, a 17-year-old halftime substitute, on the scene greatly aided that comeback. The Bernabéu fans gave him a wild ovation, obviously excited to see what he could achieve. He seemed full of confidence following his first goal against England the previous weekend, and he had no hesitation in taking on Marc Cucurella in one of his first appearances.
It took him just five minutes to break free when a corner fell to him. He skillfully volleyed the ball into the bottom corner while scything it past a huddle of players and into the back of the net. His one and only stroke of the match, but it was a well-executed one that brought his team back to par.
The teenager was a formidable threat the entire time, making a nuisance of himself with his quickness, aggression, and excellent ball handling skills. While Endrick attempted to drift in from the right, Cucurella and him fought an interesting tussle, and the Brazilian was lucky to just get yellow when he dispatched the Spaniard with two irascible kicks on the halfway line.
With barely minutes remaining, Endrick’s attacking spark proved insufficient as Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Beraldo hauled down Dani Carvajal as he raced into the box and to the byline. Once more, Rodri was the scorer; however, this time, he scored Spain’s late lead by sending his penalty kick to the top corner as opposed to the middle.
