Against Sparta Prague on Thursday, Liverpool’s Europa League round of 16 first leg match saw Darwin Nunez produce not one, but two incredible goals.
Consequently, what happened?
In the first leg of Liverpool’s round of 16 Europa League match, Nunez took aim from a distance and blasted a shot past the custodian, causing the ball to dip and veer before hitting the roof of the net. It was the 1,000th goal scored by the Reds under Jurgen Klopp’s leadership.
Shortly after, he doubled his score by putting a shot past the unlucky custodian from the other side of the field.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Nunez has been in fine form for Liverpool this season and has now scored 15 goals in all competitions, while also laying on 11 assists.

The first goal may not go down as his best – the goalkeeper probably could have done better – but it will be one of for the highlight reel, and picking up two in such a fevered European atmosphere will definitely live long in the memory.

WHAT NEXT?Nunez will be looking to improve going into this weekend’s matchup with Manchester City at the top of the standings. Their chances of winning the Premier League would greatly increase if they were to repeat these goals.
