Mo Salah, the top scorer for Liverpool, was substituted off against Ghana in Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations encounter because of what looked to be a hamstring injury.
Now that Liverpool is leading the Premier League with just two points more than both Manchester City and Aston Villa, manager Jurgen Klopp of the team must desperately hope the injury is not fatal. Immediately before halftime, the 31-year-old fought back tears of frustration at being replaced.
Salah grabbed the back of his left leg and lay on his back in pain after breaking into a run.
Ghana supporters cheered when the most famous player in the competition was replaced and limped to the touchline.
He watched as his team, which had trailed by goals from Mohammed Kudus of West Ham on two occasions, battled back with the Egypt replacements to earn a 2-2 draw in the second half.

Following his injury-related departure from the field, Liverpool supporters were also concerned about their star player’s fitness.
Liverpool knew they would be without Salah until their encounter against Brentford on February 17, if Egypt made it to the AFCON final in Abidjan.
The concern at this point is that he might take a lot longer to recover from his wounds.
The Reds starting lineup already lacks a number of guys. Ben Doak, Andrew Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago Alcantara, Kostas Tsimikas, Joel Matip, and Dominik Szoboszlai have all been listed as injured. Wataru Endo is Japan’s representative in the Asian Cup.
In their opening group match at the AFCON, Egypt needed Salah’s stoppage-time penalty to tie the score with Mozambique.
After playing Bournemouth in the Premier League once more on Sunday, Liverpool will play Fulham in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semifinal.
Reds fans were horrified to learn that their best player had suffered an injury ahead of a rigorous four-game schedule.
“We’re in trouble if this Salah injury is serious,” one fan said on the now-defunct Twitter account X. “Salah hamstring, the season is over,” remarked someone else.
Someone else remarked, “Salah hurt.” How unlucky we are is astonishing.
Salah’s injury is still not as serious as it seems; additional testing will be conducted on the winger, according to Egypt’s coach Rui Vitoria, who made this announcement after the game.
“At this point, we’re not sure what the issue is,” he said. Hopefully, it won’t be a big problem.
The manager of Salah’s team in Egypt stated that he did not believe the injury his player sustained was “dangerous.”
In the second half, we were limited to two substitutions, which presented a difficult position for us. I’ll attempt it even if I’m not sure.
Egypt drew their first game and is now ranked second in Group A. On Friday, they take on Cape Verde, the team atop the group, and Mozambique.
