FANS were left puzzled by Erik ten Hag’s tactics in Man Utd’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
That’s after defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka was deployed out of position in the thriller at Old Trafford.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was deployed as a left-back in Man Utd’s clash with Spurs
The 26-year-old is usually in the right-back slot when selected for United’s starting XI.
He and fellow right-sider Diogo Dalot were both named in Sunday’s team against Spurs.
And with the Portugal ace capable of playing on the left, it was assumed that Wan-Bissaka would line up in his normal position.
However, it was Wan-Bissaka and not Dalot who was put on the left side of United’s defence.
Fans couldn’t believe it as they saw the ace put up against Tottenham’s right winger Brennan Johnson.
One said: “Have I gone cross-eyed or is Wan-Bissaka playing LB?”
Another declared: “Wan-Bissaka at left-back? That’s new.”
One noted: “Must be the first time Wan-Bissaka has started there.”
Another added: “What is Ten Hag cooking?”
The tactical decision certainly appeared to pay off.
Rasmus Hojlund scored after only three minutes for Manchester United.
However, the Red Devils were unable to secure a second goal to cement their lead.
Spurs quickly responded, leveling the score in the 19th minute thanks to Richarlison’s header.
Wan-Bissaka was subsequently given a yellow card, making his life difficult for the rest of the game.
Marcus Rashford scored a screamer five minutes before halftime to restore United’s lead.
