When Kylian Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires at the end of the current campaign, he has decided to sign for Real Madrid.
According to Foot Mercato, the Frenchman has been connected to a move to the Bernabeu for years, and it looks like Los Blancos have finally found their match. It’s believed that the two sides came to an arrangement a few days ago, and because of his contractual status, Mbappe is free to speak with teams starting on New Year’s Day.
Reportedly, Mbappe accepted a less generous financial contract than what Real Madrid had offered him in 2022. A few years ago, the La Liga powerhouses declared Mbappe, 25, their top transfer target, and they have since made an effort to entice him to Spain each summer.
After Karim Benzema moved to Saudi Arabia last summer, they intended to bring him in as his successor; but, financial issues made that transfer impossible. When the transaction fell through, Mbappe refused to sign a contract extension with PSG, leading to his initial expulsion from the first squad.
However, manager Luis Enrique eventually re-engaged the former Monaco player in an attempt to persuade him to remain in Paris. However, it appears that his attempts have been in vain, and PSG will now forfeit their star player. The Premier League clubs, who were expecting to outmaneuver Real Madrid and lure the 2018 World Cup winner to England, are equally devastated by the news.
With 25 goals in 24 appearances for PSG this season, Mbappe has been unstoppable. He scored a hat-trick in his team’s 9-0 French Cup victory over Revel, a sixth-tier team, on Sunday. With 18 goals, ten more than his nearest competitor, he leads Ligue 1 in scoring.
Over his six and a half years at the Parc des Princes, he has scored an astounding 237 goals, averaging 35 goals a season. In 2017, he paid £160 million to join the team from Monaco. With his departure, PSG would have lost Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe in the same calendar year.
He’ll form connections with players like Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham at Madrid, leading Carlo Ancelotti’s offensive attack.
