On New Year’s Eve, Carrington had a significant visit, making it a memorable day.
ERIK TEN HAG went out for a beautiful dinner with his family to cap off a fantastic 2023.
The manager of Manchester United had a mixed year leading the Red Devils.
When the team won the Carabao Cup and returned to the Champions League, he helped them break their six-year trophy drought.
However, his injured team was eliminated in the group stages and has been inconsistent this season; off the pitch, there have been recurring confrontations with players like Jadon Sancho.
Moreover, United’s 2-1 loss at Nottingham Forest on the road to close the year in disappointing fashion left them ninth in the table and nine points outside of the top four.
But on New Year’s Eve, Ten Hag set all that aside to spend some family time in Altrincham.
Ten Hag was visiting The Con Club with his wife Bianca and a few family members.
This upscale restaurant offers a special menu for New Year’s Eve in addition to a variety of meat and sushi dishes.
Bianca was dressed in a beige jacket and scarf, while Ten Hag, 53, was photographed entering the building wearing a dark coat, jeans, trainers and a flat cap.
The father of three Dutchmen seemed to chat with a few onlookers before sitting down to supper inside.
Sir Dave Brailsford spent his first official day at Manchester United earlier on New Year’s Eve, spending the day at Carrington.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s right-hand man, Brailsford, will join the Old Trafford football board after the Premier League approves the Ineos CEO’s 25% acquisition of the team.
Brailsford reportedly spent New Year’s Eve meeting and greeting staff members and seeing the training facility.
He was there for the Forest and Aston Villa games.
The former staff Sky cycling manager and director of sport at Ineos, however, has not yet had a formal meeting with Ten Hag, the coaches, or the recruitment staff.
Despite the new investors’ interest in Graham Potter, the management is not afraid for his job.
Ten Hag said, “They (INEOS) know me and they know when I have a squad what is available the results will be there,” following Villa’s Boxing Day comeback victory. We’ve already shown that we can compete head-to-head with the best teams.
“I am confident that this team can make further development and exhibit consistency. This is a project component.
“We need to step up, and I have to lead that process. We overperformed last year, but we’re underperforming this year.”
