Wataru Endo of Liverpool accomplished a rare achievement after starting his team’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Burnley.
Endo became the first Reds outfielder to start five games in 13 days since January 2006, according to OptaJoe statistical editor Michael Reid, during his visit to Turf Moor.
He is the only player to do so since Steven Gerrard, Sami Hyypia, Jamie Carragher, Steven Finnan, Harry Kewell, and Peter Crouch all started five consecutive games in under two weeks.
Wataru Endo accomplished a feat unseen in Liverpool in 18 years tonight.
Endo, who joined the Merseyside club from VfB Stuttgart in the summer for about £16 million, had a strong game against Burnley. During the game, the 30-year-old completed 63 of 75 passes, created 2 opportunities, won 7 of 14 total duels, and made 8 recoveries.
