The game’s MVP was Alexandro Garnacho, who helped Manchester United overcome Aston Villa by coming back from behind.
A never-before-seen free-kick strategy gave Villa the lead at Old Trafford in the 21st minute of the game, sailing past an under-par Andre Onana.
For Manchester United, Alejandro Garnacho scored two goals.
Five minutes following Leander Dendoncker’s goal, Villa swiftly extended their lead, failing to rouse United in the process.
After the break, Alejandro Garnacho scored two goals as he led the Red Devils in their comeback.
In the 81st minute, Rasmus Hojlund scored the game’s winning goal to break his goal drought in the Premier League.
He has rated the Manchester United players for us.
Andre Onana – 3
didn’t appear particularly confident during the game, and didn’t come to claim John McGinn’s cross for the opening goal. Contributed to his distribution, but that was also subpar. Very poor quality.
Aaron Wan Bissaka – 5
On the ball, he appeared cool and collected.
Good defensively when called upon, but still lacks the forward threat that is essential for a full-back in the current game.
Jonny Evans – 5
Not good enough at all in the first half, but they improved significantly in the second, stopping John McGinn’s second goal with a fantastic goal line clearing.
Raphael Varane – 5
Did not appear to be up to par today and lacked the dominant presence we witnessed versus Liverpool.
did improve in the second half, but it was still far from his outstanding work.
Diego Dalot – 6
played some excellent forward passes and displayed creativity as a United defender, but he was troubled by Leon Bailey on the right side and was unable to make a significant effect on the game.
Kobbie Mainoo – 6
demonstrated some excellent press resistance as well as some excellent passing and movement. The boy put on another impressive performance.
Christian Eriksen – 5
appeared to frequently make poor choices in the first half—a statement that could be applied to the majority of Manchester United players.
didn’t really help defensively and wasn’t a danger on the attack.
Bruno Fernandes – 7
He was constantly complaining during the match and gave away a careless free kick that led to John McGinn’s first goal.
performed admirably in the second half, laying the groundwork for Garnacho’s second goal and setting up Hojlund’s winning goal. There was clearly some excellent passes.
Alejandro Garnacho – 8
was upbeat the entire game and deserved his brace. Was the finest player for Manchester United on the pitch today and had two calm finishes.
persistently giving the Villa defensive trouble.
Marcus Rashford – 7
looked threatening throughout both halves, missing a few opportunities to score and displaying some fantastic movement. However, he produced a wonderful cross for Garnacho’s opening goal.
Rasmus Hojlund – 5
Until the second half started, he appeared to be a yard off the pace and to be carrying the weight of the entire world on his shoulders.
His winning goal, which he scored expertly with his left foot, should boost his confidence greatly.
