Arsenal head to the Netherlands but will be without Dutch international Jurrien Timber as he continues his recovery from a major knee injury.

Timber would surely have loved to play in this game having previously turned out for PSV’s rivals Ajax.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has now been asked about Timber and his twin brother Quinten, who turns out for another of PSV’s rival sides in Feyenoord.

Arteta has told Arsenal’s official website that he knows of Quinten ‘a little bit’ and knows the Timber family having signed Jurrien.

Arteta noted that both Jurrien and Quinten are ‘really good’ players and ‘extraordinary’ people, praising the Timber family for doing a ‘really good job’.

“Yeah, the parents have done a really good job I think! I know the brother a little bit, I know the family,” said Arteta.

“Really good footballers and two extraordinary kids. I don’t know the rest because they’re a big family but congratulations to the parents,” he added.

Arteta was then asked if he had ever seen Quinten play. ‘Yes, definitely. I watched him play to make sure we didn’t buy the wrong Timber.’

What’s interesting is that Arsenal are thought to be interested in signing Feyenoord ace Quinten Timber.

90min reported in October that Arsenal had been impressed by Timber having scouted the midfielder in action.

While Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested, joining twin brother Jurrien at Arsenal would undoubtedly be appealing.

Given his stellar play this season, Arteta has all but confirmed that Timber is on his radar.

In 15 Eredivisie games, Timber has scored five goals and provided six assists, making outstanding outings for Feyenoord.

In 2024, Arsenal might try to sign more midfield players, and Timber will undoubtedly be on their radar—especially in light of Arteta’s remarks.
