Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo are two “special” academy products that Manchester United has, according to captain Bruno Fernandes.
Garnacho’s incredible overhead kick against Everton on Sunday resulted in one of the best goals in United’s history.
The 16-year-old Argentine pushed his way into the first squad last season after joining United from Atletico Madrid.
When Mainoo made his Premier League debut in full against Everton, he was praised widely for his poised midfield play.
Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year went to Garnacho in 2022, and Mainoo the following year.
Fernandes adds that the two’s performances in the starting lineup have demonstrated how “special” they are.
“I talk about Kobbie all the time,” Fernandes remarked.
“I believe he is a unique player.”
Obviously, because Garnacho scores goals, assists, and accomplishes everything, people won’t talk about him as much as they would. However, everyone in the squad is aware of what he brings to the game and what he gives the club.
“He plays with one of the best players in the world, Casemiro, so I think he has great players in front of him to learn from.” Additionally, Sofyan (Amrabat), who excels in that position and receives everything from them, plays in that position.
He is eager to learn and wants to learn, and I believe that’s his greatest quality because he wants to learn new things all the time. He is ready to hear what everyone has to say in order to keep improving.
the Goodison Park goal.
Garnacho’s goal bore resemblance to one of Ronaldo’s most memorable goals, the overhead kick he struck in the Champions League match against Juventus in 2018.
Garnacho had been watching “too many” videos of his idol, Fernandes laughed.
“It’s incredible—something beyond this world, I believe,” Fernandes said to PA.
Most likely, he is consuming too many Cristiano videos! He is, as we all know, a huge fan. He still has a long way to go before he can match Cristiano, but he is making progress.
“I believe he has what it takes to be something special in the football world, but he needs to go above and beyond to achieve that goal!”
