Arsenal legend Ian Wright has now been discussing the form of captain Martin Odegaard amid a lack of creativity at the side.
Wright was speaking on his podcast ‘Wrighty’s House’ and admitted he did love the way Arsenal were now progressing under Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners have become a much more formidable presence with the addition of Declan Rice, even if they are now lacking something going forwards.
And although Wright enjoyed the change, he did think the likes of Bukayo Saka now needed Odegaard back at his best for Arsenal to bring it all together.

Wright said: “Last season is gone for me, and I’m going with this Arsenal which I very much recognise, it’s in my DNA, building from the defence, and then it’s up to us now.
“We need Martin Odegaard’s form to come back, we need to make sure we can get the ball to [Bukayo] Saka and [Gabriel] Martinelli quickly so that they can do their stuff.”

Ian Wright thinks Arsenal need Martin Odegaard back to his brilliant best
And sitting top of the league, it bodes well that Arsenal haven’t quite clicked yet.
Of course, Wright is echoing the thoughts of many Arsenal fans right now.
A foundation of Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and Declan Rice looks capable of shutting out any side.
But as Arteta’s side continue to evolve, they will want to add their attacking flair back to performances.
Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus were criticised by Alan Shearer following their display against Brentford, but it hasn’t always been easy being an Arsenal striker right now.
Usually blessed with chances, the duo are having to work extremely hard to engineer opportunities.
However, supporters will have faith that as the team advances, a balance will be discovered.
As previously said, the signs are positive if Arsenal leads the league after defeating both City and still isn’t quite clicking.
Wright notes that Odegaard hasn’t exactly played at his best for Arsenal, but with stability now behind him, it’s exciting to think that his best form should soon return.
