Alex and Steven Gerrard had OK! over to their fancy house in Portugal to celebrate their first wedding anniversary in 2008.

After laying out on loungers in the sun, the couple played around in their private pool with their daughters Lilly-Ella, 4, and Lexie, 2. They also posed for pictures in their fuchsia pink living room.

Steven was a player for Liverpool at the time and played for England. He told OK! It was nice to take a break from all of his training on the trip to the hideaway, which is near Faro in the Algarve area.

Steven, who is now 40 years old, said, “As soon as I knew how much time I was going to have off, Alex and I sat down and planned what we were going to do.” He also said that it had been exactly one year since they got married at the fancy Cliveden House hotel on the border between Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. The Duchess of Sussex stayed there the night before her wedding to Prince Harry.

Peter Crouch, Rio Ferdinand, Jamie Redknapp, Ashley Cole, and Ashley’s then-wife Cheryl Cole were some of the famous people who came to Alex and Steven’s wedding. Steven said, “We can’t believe the anniversary has already come around.” He then told Alex that he had planned something special to do with her to enjoy.

Alex, a model, said she wished she could do the 2007 event all over again because she was so “nervous” on that day. Steven also said that he was “anxious” before the big day, but that the day itself was “perfect.”

The 38-year-old Alex talked about their wedding movie and said that Lilly “absolutely loves it.” He also said, “She watches it from beginning to end.” Steven said, “She watched it every night for a while.”

The first time Steven was captain of England was in 2010. During the interview, he talked about how great it was to spend time with his girls. “I love that they get excited when I’m around. He said it was “a completely different way of living” to be away for three weeks out of the month during football season. “But in the summer, I can chill out with the girls,” he said, adding, “Football is out of my mind.” Time with family is the most important thing until the first day of training again.

Steven asked Alex to go on two dates in 2002, but she allegedly turned him down the first time. They talked about wanting to have a third child, and Steven joked that he wouldn’t be able to handle living with four girls. Steven joked, “Well, sometimes, but only because Alex turned them against me!” when asked if he was afraid of women. Sometimes it’s three against one!”

They had no idea that three years later, in 2011, they would have their third child, a girl named Lourdes. Then, in 2017, Steven finally got his wish granted: Alex gave birth to their fourth child, a son named Lio George. Steven was the only boy in the Gerrard family.
