During the visit, Luis talked about how his upbringing in a small Colombian community with limited opportunities for a better future inspired him to combat homelessness and poverty in the UK.

He also talked about his family foundation, which supports numerous towns and initiatives in Colombia with both financial and practical support. He aims to use his experience working with The Passage and Centrepoint to inform the foundation’s future work.

“Hope and opportunity are vital,” stated Luis. Despite living in a humble neighborhood in Colombia, my family was very supportive of my desire to pursue a career in football. I felt a strong connection to Liverpool’s community when I joined, and they accepted me as one of their own. I felt compelled to assist after witnessing homelessness in Liverpool and throughout the UK.

I’m appreciative that I got to know The Passage and Centrepoint and heard about their initiatives to end homelessness. I think this is significant. Through my work as an ambassador, I wish to increase awareness for both charities and give UK citizens the same opportunities and optimism that I had as a young boy. I’m also excited to start similar work in Colombia and beyond by learning from these incredible NGOs.

“We are delighted to welcome Luis Diaz as an Ambassador for The Passage and Centrepoint,” The Passage’s chief executive officer, Mick Clarke, stated. Our goal is to give our clients opportunities—like a job, training, and a place to live—that many others take for granted.

Luis has had a lot of opportunities thanks to football, and it’s encouraging to see how much he wants to give back. Luis’s commitment to resolving homelessness as a social issue is much appreciated. I also applaud NVA Sports and Entertainment Group for assisting Luis in his role as an advocate for charity.

“Luis could not have picked a more important time to become an Ambassador and we are delighted to have him on board,” said Seyi Obakin, CEO of Centerpoint.

With thousands of young people becoming homeless every week, England is facing a problem related to youth homelessness. Sadly, a large number of people who are having trouble finding housing and employment are hidden from view and find it difficult to receive assistance. With his skill and widespread recognition, Luis has the ability to alter that, and we are eager to collaborate with him and The Passage to end homelessness.
