The 2023 Inter Miami season was Lionel Messi’s best yet, and he was rewarded with the Most Valuable Player award.
Miami claimed on their website that Messi was their most valued player for the 2023 season, despite his only joining the team in June – after his exit from Paris Saint-Germain. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner undoubtedly made a huge impression in his first 14 games with the club, tallying 11 goals and eight assists.
Messi is definitely the most famous player to earn the Most Valuable Player title for Inter Miami. Previous winners include Gonzalo Higuain and Lewis Morgan. The statement comes just days after the Argentine captain won the World Cup in Qatar, which helped him collect a record-breaking ninth Ballon d’Or. Messi led Inter Miami to the inaugural Leagues Cup victory, but they were unable to advance in the MLS postseason despite his efforts. The 36-year-old only scored once in six MLS games and was injured for the majority of their matches in the second half of the season.
Messi is supposedly entering his first full year with Inter Miami in terrific form, and opponents should be afraid since he plans to “win everything” in 2024. Messi’s immediate attention, meanwhile, is on helping Argentina maintain their perfect start to 2026 World Cup qualification play with upcoming matches against Uruguay and Brazil.
