Liverpool 3-0 Brentford: Excellent Salah with a double, Diogo Jota scored a great long shot, the hero of the match was named Kotas Tsimikas

Liverpool used their early start to move joint-top of the table, and Mo Salah joined a small group of premier league greats.

Salah scored in both halves to become only the fourth player in Premier League history to score in their first six home games of the season. The other three were Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, and Les Ferdinand.

It was also the 15th straight league game at Anfield that the Egyptian King had either scored or set up a goal.

Diogo Jota then scored a third goal to make it an easy home win for Liverpool.

Due to the wind and rain, Jurgen Klopp made Wataru Endo, a summer signing, start his first Premier League game at Anfield after Alexis Mac Allister was banned for one match.

Brentford started defender Ben Mee, who is 34 years old, for the first time since September, when he hurt his muscle.

Early on, Liverpool had a scare when Ethan Pinnock almost scored from close range, putting a lot of pressure on Brentford’s back four.

Darwin Nunez was always close to what was going on. Mark Flekken had to make a save at his near post, and then two goals were called back for offside.

First, he sidefooted Dominik Szoboszlai’s shot, and then, after Virgil van Dijk’s header was brilliantly saved by Flekken, he hit the ball over the head. The flag was raised both times, and VAR checks proved it. The first time, the decision was made by the width of a big toe.

The only thing that could stop powerful Liverpool’s was themselves. Alexander-Arnold made a bad pass inside his own box, and Bryan Mbuemo could have scored after it, but his shot went high.

The forward then got close to Alexander-Arnold in the goal, but Alisson heard the threat and made the save.

The Kop didn’t like it when referee Paul Tierney booked Joel Matip for a hit on Christian Norgaard, even though Matip said he wasn’t guilty.

After coming close to scoring, Nunez did better as a helper.

After 39 minutes, he turned smartly and set Salah free down the right side. The next thing that happened, the winger hitting a shot into the bottom corner, seemed like it was bound to happen.

Before the break, Nunez and Salah could have scored a second goal, but Salah scored it again after 62 minutes, not long after VAR decided Endo’s falling challenge on Norgaard was not a foul.

Kostas Tsimikas set up the goal with a cross from the byline, and Salah scored with a simple header.

The game didn’t start again until VAR made sure the whole ball hadn’t crossed the line. They said it hadn’t, and even though it looked like it might have, it wasn’t argued over as strongly as Newcastle’s recent win over Arsenal.

That meant Brentford’s hopes of getting their first win at Anfield since 1937 were over. They had won three games in a row.

After 75 minutes, Jota scored the third goal. He did this by getting a pass from Tsimikas on the left side of the penalty area, moving inside Frank Onyeka, and then driving the ball past Flekken.

Luis Diaz got a big cheer when he came on as a replacement in the 83rd minute. It was his first game at Anfield since his father was freed from captivity in Colombia. And in extra time, 19-year-old James McConnell, a player from the next generation, was brought on to make his Premier League start.
