Before the match against Toulouse, Jurgen Klopp had praise for his young midfielder at the press conference.

Liverpool captain  Virgil van Dijk will miss the Europa League match in Toulouse due to illness, but his place could be filled by a young player whose rise has been rapid this season, to the point of making Coach Jurgen Klopp was also surprised.

20-year-old Jarell Quansah joined the first team for pre-season training. At that time, there was not much consideration about what role he would play in the team. There were even discussions about loaning the player.

But Klopp believed in Quansah and debuted the star of the future against Newcastle in August. Klopp said: “ Virgil is a little bit sick. It won’t be a big problem but we don’t want him to have to play in less than his best condition. That’s why we left him at home. Everything will be fine by the end of the week. ”

 Quansah is highly trusted by Klopp.

When asked about Quansah’s prospects, the German teacher added:

“ If you asked me before the season I would have been surprised. But since then I see him every day and I’m not surprised anymore.”

It’s great to have a boy coming from our academy with such potential and qualities. We’ll see how he develops, but it’s extremely promising. There were rumors about him going out on loan but we said no, which was obviously a very good decision. ”
