This afternoon, Liverpool left for France and a Europa League match against Toulouse. We were there to capture their departure from the airport.
On Thursday night, the Reds will play the Ligue 1 team in the fourth and final game of the group round. If the Reds win, they will advance to the knockout stage.
In the pictures below, you can see the team departing from John Lennon Airport.
Teams from Liverpool and Toulouse
Klopp is starting to run out of midfielders to pick from. Wataru Endo should join Harvey Elliott and Alexis Mac Allister in the starting lineup since Dominik Szoboszlai may need to rest to prevent injury.
Klopp must also make selections in defense; Jarell Quansah’s performance against Bournemouth in the League Cup gave him confidence that he deserved to start.
Due to Joe Gomez’s recent playing time and the established pairing between Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate at center defense in the Premier League, Joel Matip is expected to start.
Liverpool’s expected starting lineup is as follows:
When Endo scored against Toulouse in their home encounter, he was welcomed back to the squad.
Due to his fitness, Ben Doak will start in lieu of Mo Salah on the right wing.
As Mac Allister will be missing Sunday’s Premier League encounter due to suspension, he gets the nod.
Imagine Liverpool to be like this instead:
Kelleher; Endo, Elliott, Mac Allister; Doak, Gakpo, Jota; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Quansah, Tsimikas
Even though he played only 67 minutes in the home encounter against Toulouse two weeks ago, Klopp still has the option of giving youthful left-back Luke Chambers another go.
With no upcoming international commitments, Caoimhin Kelleher is set to continue starting in goal for the rest of the Europa League season while Gomez moves to right defense.
Although Diaz’s father is still a hostage, he is eager to begin playing.
Doak, Gakpo, and Diaz; Kelleher; Endo, Elliott, and Mac Allister; and Chambers, Quansah, and Matip
Due to injuries and other considerations, this club is somewhat easier to anticipate than in recent weeks’ Europa League matches.
Whatever lineup Liverpool chooses to utilize, they should still be able to defeat Toulouse. But we all know that’s not how football works.
