The Ohio State Buckeyes will make their all-gray debut against the Michigan State Spartans, ditching their “Land of the Wolves” colors.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have a history of dressing elegantly.

The Buckeyes, who already have one of the greatest default uniforms in NCAA football, expanded their wardrobe with the introduction of a new all-gray alternate outfit. The all-scarlet lettering, gray slacks, scarlet and gray Nike cleats, and the Buckeyes’ iconic gray helmet contrast with the light gray jerseys.

This Saturday, November 11 on NBC, Ohio State will play Michigan State under the lights in their inaugural jerseys.

Before making the formal announcement, the Buckeyes’ X (previously known as “Twitter”) account had been making subtle allusions to a new uniform release for a little more than a week. They started by sharing an all-gray image with the Spartans game date. They then shared a video of Ohio Stadium changing from color to black and gray to the original image.

Before the entire uniform was made public at the conclusion of the week, a closer look at the uniforms was released a few days later.

Ohio State had previously donned a gray uniform, making its “Land of the Wolves” debut in a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback victory over Penn State in 2017.

Since 2009, the Buckeyes have a 25-7 record in alternative uniforms, with four of the defeats occurring in bowl or College Football Playoff games.
