Since October 2010, when John Henry and FSG took over as Liverpool’s owners, we have listed below the club’s most expensive contracts.

Fabinho – 43.7 million £

In May 2018, only hours after losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, Liverpool confirmed the transfer of Fabinho from Monaco. The Brazilian player played a key role in the team’s success, which saw them take home four championships in a year’s time. Fabinho left Liverpool for At-Ittihad in July of this year for a reported £40 million.

Mohamed Salah – 43.9 million £

In the summer of 2017, Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah from Roma, the Egyptian returning to the Premier League for the first time since leaving Chelsea. Salah is currently Liverpool’s all-time fifth leading scorer.

Cody Gakpo – 44 million £

Cody Gakpo moved to Liverpool from PSV Eindhoven during the 2019 January transfer window. He was rumored to be interested in playing for Manchester United, but ultimately decided to join Liverpool instead. One of Gakpo’s first goals for Liverpool came against Man United in a 7-0 triumph at Anfield in March. The Dutchman is still an integral part of Klopp’s starting lineup up front.

Diogo Jota – 45 million £

In September of the year 2020, Diogo Jota made the move to Liverpool from Wolves. Since leaving Molineux, the Portugal international has scored 47 goals in 126 games for the Red Brigade. Jota’s role in Liverpool’s attack has grown since Roberto Firmino left the team.

Luis Diaz – 50 million £

Liverpool made the decision to acquire Luis Diaz from Porto in January 2022, just a few weeks after meeting Diaz in the group stage of the Champions League. After missing the majority of the 2022/2023 season with an ACL injury, Diaz is now fully fit and an important member of Klopp’s side.

Naby Keita – 52.75 million £

One of Klopp’s first major spending commitments at Liverpool is Naby Keita’s massive contract. Keita’s playing time at Anfield has been significantly curtailed by injuries. In the summer, he departed as a free agent and joined Bundesliga team Werder Bremen.

In the summer of 2018, Liverpool broke the transfer record for a goalkeeper when they acquired Alisson Becker. Soon later, with the addition of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Chelsea surpassed that mark. Becker led the club to a Champions League and Premier League title in Alisson’s debut season as captain. He’s still Liverpool’s starter in goal, and he’s been solid of late.

 Virgil van Dijk – 75 million £
