Despite just 16, Lamine Yamal has been Barcelona’s top dribbler this season.
The CIES Football Index and Wyscout have been tracking Europe’s top under-23 dribblers this season and found some intriguing results.
The youngest player on the list, Lamine Yamal, ranks first ahead of Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka and Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskheli.
The CIES calculates dribble success rate from league matches “as well as the sporting level of the matches played (as a percentage deviation from the overall average).”
The list only includes players who have played 450 minutes this season.
Dribbling 56 times in 11 La Liga appearances (534 minutes) this season, Lamine Yamal averages six per 90 minutes.
Luca Koleosho of Burnley completes the top three with 52 dribbles/6.4 per 90 minutes, followed by Martinelli with 65.
La Liga has only two other top-10 players. Real Sociedad’s Take Kubo is No. 6 and Granada’s Bryan Zaragoza is No. 10.
