Playmaker Nicolai Vallys of Brondby is being pursued by a number of teams, including Manchester United, according to Danish publication Ekstra Bladet (today’s edition).
The 27-year-old was lately being watched by the Red Devils while he played for FC Nordsjaelland. The winning goal was scored by him after the hour.
According to Ekstra Bladet, Brondby requested €10 million in order to split from Vallys during the summer, but no specific offers were made.
According to the source, Carsten Jensen, the sporting director of Brondby, needs to lower the asking price and shouldn’t anticipate paying more than €6-7 million for Vallys.
Given his age and the league he plays in, it is said that no team would be willing to give Vallys more than his current salary of 27 years old.
In addition to United, other teams after his signature include Aston Villa, Wolfsburg, Real Betis, and Marseille.
Man Utd could make surprise move for Vallys
Vallys is a versatile player who can operate from the attacking midfield position or on the left or right wing.
Although the Dane has spent most of this season operating out of the number 10 spot, his career success has come from the left side of the attack.
Right now, United has players covering both spots. Alejandro Garnacho backs up Marcus Rashford as the unquestioned starter on the left wing.
As the playmaker, Bruno Fernandes is also a sure starter. He can be replaced by Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen, and Mason Mount.
Therefore, it comes as a surprise that United is considering Vallys; nevertheless, if he keeps up his impressive play, a move might be imminent this winter.
The Red Devils should seize the chance to sign him in order to add more depth and quality to their bench of substitute players, especially considering the comparatively low sum given.
With seven goals and two assists from just 14 appearances for Brondby across all competitions, Vallys has been playing at his best this season.
