However, Liverpool took the lead thanks to Diogo Jota and Darwin Nez, two players who kept their starting spots from the previous week. The former scored first, capitalizing on Matt Turner’s save to re-direct Nez’s shot into the net.

After some excellent combination play by Salah and Szoboszlai, the Uruguayan got in on the action as well, guiding the ball home at the near post. To round off the scoring, Mohamed Salah rolled the ball into an empty net after a terrible error by Turner following a long pass by Szoboszlai.

WINNERS

Alexis Mac Allister, who has been playing the number six position for Liverpool, had his greatest game since being moved to that position. A dependable presence in front of the defense, the World Cup hero also displayed his passing prowess.

Even though Diogo Jota probably wasn’t anticipating a start tonight, Luis Daz was justifiably left off the roster after receiving some disturbing family news. Jota was outstanding in his absence and paid tribute to his late friend after giving the Reds the lead.

LOSERS

It’s not fair to call him a loser considering how well he performed midweek, but Ryan Gravenberch just wasn’t as sharp over the weekend. There were occasions when the Dutchman’s touch failed him, but that won’t be a problem for Klopp.
