The Reds faced Nottingham Forest on match day ten.
Becker – 6.0
A midweek break before rejoining the first-team elite. Had little to do in a possession-heavy first half. The enormous Brazilian was able to watch the rest of the game in tranquility at Anfield.
Trent Alexander-Arnold—7.0
Gained crucial minutes midweek and started the game. He wanted to move the ball fast and effectively against a tenacious backline that held until the first goal. Another solid performance and each game helps him adjust to the hybrid role.
Subbed – 89 minutes
Kostas Tsimikas—6.0
The first-choice left back, the lively Greek, returned. His width helped the Reds spread the ball and stretch a defensively stout club. Good and consistent form without Andy Robertson.
Ibrahima Konaté—8.0
Now captain Virgil van Dijk’s first-choice partner. The monster France international rarely was tested and did what he wanted when he wanted. A run of games might make him a top centre-back in the world.
Dijk – 8.0
Disneyland was the enormous Dutchman’s midweek preparation. He controlled a superbly scratchy high line with authority, defeating all attacks with quickness and strength.
Dominik Szoboszlai—9.0
The Hungarian captain ran and was threatening in the first half. Providing width and alternatives in the middle made him unstoppable. A great assist set up the second goal, leaving Darwin almost little to do.
Man of match
MacAllister Alexis – 7.0
Argentina World Cup winner started again as holding midfielder, controlling the game as his Hungarian partner tore into the opponents.
Gravenberch, Ryan 6.0
After a week-long man of the match performance, got another start for the first team. A quieter performance as his midfielders outperformed the massive Dutchman.
Subbed: 59 minutes
Diaogo Jota—7.0
As his Colombian partner dealt with personal concerns, the Portuguese attacker returned. The predatory ex-Wolves man scored first. He kept being in the right place at the right time.
Subbed 58 mins
Darwin Núñez – 8.0
With his fierce and entertaining play, the Uruguayan hero is the Anfield crowd’s favorite. His crashing drive set up Diogo Jota to score the first goal, then he scored from close range to double his team’s lead. Always a threat and goal threat.
Salah – 8.0
The Egyptian King may be the first name on the core team sheet after another strong performance that proved his modern rank. He appears unstoppable, so his goal was practically inevitable.
SUBS:
Harvey Elliott – 6.0 (58)
An important team member who contributed intensity with his minutes.
Cody Gakpo: 5.0 (59).
Nice to see him back, and his form will improve.
On 80, Wataru Endō scores 5.0.
Willing and dedicated.
N/A (89) Joe Gomez
Manager: Jürgen Klopp (8.0)
The German manager rotated the team again due to the busy pre-Christmas schedule. Despite Luis Díaz’s absence due to personal circumstances, the starting lineup was as predicted.
Some players entered and left the field in a game that ended before halftime.
These decisions may have been overlooked last season, but rotation is essential to success in a long and demanding season. Not only is our team growing, but so is our legendary German coach, who produced another great performance at Anfield.
