After a flawless start to the Champions League, Real Madrid beat SC Braga 2-1 on the road. Rodrygo scored the first goal for Los Blancos, breaking a long scoring drought. His goal drought stretched back to the season opener against Athletic Bilbao. Jude Bellingham, who seems to enjoy scoring, contributed the other goal.
Since joining the team this summer, Bellingham has made an incredible impact after coming from Borussia Dortmund. Even his most hopeful supporters can’t believe how far he’s come.
Bellingham has done fantastic work while wearing the Royal White shirt. Transfermarkt reports that in 12 games this season, he has 11 goals and 3 assists for the team.
When Bellingham limped off the field in the 89th minute against SC Braga, Real Madrid fans naturally became concerned. But thankfully, it seems like our fears were unfounded.
Manager of Real Madrid provides injury update on Bellingham
In the postgame press conference, Carlo Ancelotti reportedly said:
It’s nothing to worry about with Jude Bellingham.
Due to the softness of the pitch, his adductor has been overworked. It’s not very interesting. He’s in good shape, so he’ll be alright. He’s exhausted, but that’s not unusual for him.
That’s great news for Real Madrid followers. If the team wants to make some noise this year, they’ll need Bellingham to be healthy.
If he had been hurt now, it would have been the worst possible time. This weekend marks the first El Clasico of the new season, pitting Real Madrid against FC Barcelona.
Both teams are in contention for the La Liga championship this season. There is currently only one point between the two teams. Therefore, the forthcoming El Clasico’s significance is readily apparent.
There are still two more teams that can’t be discounted in the championship chase. Girona is in second place, trailing Real Madrid by a single goal. Moreover, Atletico Madrid will take over first place in the table if they win their game in hand.
