According to a recent article, Casemiro believes that joining Manchester United was a mistake.
Following a rather successful debut season at Old Trafford, Casemiro’s sophomore year in England has not been easy.
The Brazilian midfielder has looked off the pace, and United’s inconsistent play has been exacerbated by his erratic form.
At halftime against Brentford before to the international break, the former Real Madrid player was indeed substituted after being sent off during United’s Champions League defeat to Galatasaray.
The 31-year-old was replaced after taking a hit in Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Venezuela, and he subsequently returned to play Uruguay, where the five-time World Cup winners lost 2-0. Nevertheless, the team’s schedule offered little solace.
Casemiro’s performances have not pleased United, according to Nacional, and the midfield player is “regretting” his decision to transfer to Old Trafford a year ago.
Casemiro is said to lament leaving Real to go with a team that is so unpredictable both on and off the field and has only brought home one Carabao Cup during his tenure.
Joao Neves of Benfica has apparently been picked by United as the player’s long-term replacement.
According to the Catalan media site, United is interested in signing Neves, but they will need to come to an agreement over a minimum of £61 million in order to do so.
The 19-year-old played in eight league games this season, leading the Eagles earn four clean sheets. He made seventeen appearances in Benfica’s championship-winning campaign the previous year.
