Sofyan Amrabat and Sergio Reguilon both returned to training on Thursday, giving Manchester United a double injury boost ahead of their Premier League match against Sheffield United on Saturday.
Since Amrabat was sidelined by injury for Morocco over the break, his status for this weekend’s competition has been thrown into question.
The on-loan Fiorentina midfielder was noticeably absent from Tuesday night’s match against Liberia due to a minor illness, as explained by coach Al Ayam.
.
But Amrabat was allowed to train with Man United on Thursday, so he should be OK to go for Saturday night’s game against the Blades.
Reguilon was also there, seemingly unscathed by his hamstring injury.
The loaned defender from Tottenham Hotspur hasn’t played in the last four games, although he was expected to return against Brentford before the international break.
With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia still sidelined, Reguilon’s return to the lineup on Saturday couldn’t come at a better time. The Spaniard is slated to start at left back.
Shaw has a muscle issue that will keep him out until at least the beginning of next month, while Malacia apparently had knee surgery in the summer, which will keep him out until the end of the year.
Kobbie Mainoo was also discovered after being absent due to injury.
French defender Raphael Varane trained on Thursday after getting over the minor injury that kept him out of the match against Brentford before the international break.
.
Casemiro, a midfielder for Man United, will not be available this weekend since he has stayed in Brazil to get treatment for a minor injury he sustained while playing for Brazil in an international match.
The 31-year-old will not play against Sheffield United and will also miss next week’s Champions League match against Copenhagen owing to suspension.
So, he might play in the Manchester derby on October 29 against Manchester City, which is right before a match against Newcastle United in the EFL Cup.
Not only is Jadon Sancho still missing after his spat with head coach Erik ten Hag, but so are Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Amad Diallo.
With Casemiro out this weekend, Scott McTominay may get the nod in goal for Manchester United after his stoppage-time brace against Brentford before the international break sealed a crucial three points for the Red Devils.
