He used to be one of the market’s most valuable young players.
Fans are in shock after seeing Manchester United’s asking price for Mason Greenwood.
It was decided that Greenwood could not continue his career at United, therefore he was placed on loan to Getafe over the summer. It is currently rumored that another La Liga team is interested in signing the 22-year-old.
The new report has highlighted the expenses United is incurring as a result of Greenwood’s loan stint with Getafe. The player is still under contract with United until the summer of 2025.
It’s thought that Greenwood’s success at Getafe has also caught Sevilla’s interest.
It’s been said that United wants to let Greenwood leave since both Getafe and Sevilla are keen to sign him on a permanent basis.
And according to Team Talk, the striker is reportedly requesting at a price of almost £20 million.
Richard Arnold, the chief executive of United, spoke of the £75,000-per-week striker during a fans’ conference last week: “With Mason, as I am sure you can appreciate, this was an extremely difficult and complex situation.”
“Over the course of several months, we performed a thorough inquiry, taking into account all relevant evidence.
“There were significant facts in the evidence that were not available to the general public. As CEO, I ultimately decided that Mason’s career should go on somewhere else.
While it’s true that my choice changed over time, I think we reached the best decision possible for everyone. I can promise you, though, that we have considered the criticism and comments, and we have learned some things.
But as of right now, it seems like Greenwood’s time at Manchester United is officially gone.
