On Sunday night, when the Warriors host the Kings for a preseason game at Golden 1 Center, the atmosphere will be vastly different.
Anthony Slater of The Athletic has reported that, per his anonymous sources, neither Steph Curry nor Chris Paul will play in the third preseason game for the Warriors.
Both Curry and Paul played 13 minutes for the Warriors in the preseason game on October 7. Paul played 20 minutes and Curry 21, both against the Lakers in a preseason game on Friday.
Now that Stephen Curry and Chris Paul have had a chance to relax after the Warriors’ two-game, three-night stretch, the door is open for Golden State’s bench players to make an impact in the preseason leading up to the 2023-24 NBA season.
Steph Curry’s Role Compared to the Kings
According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Golden State Warriors will play without Stephen Curry on Sunday night against the Sacramento Kings. Curry will be joined on the benc by veteran point guard Chris Paul for this game. Warriors eat chow Steve Kerr had previously announced that the team’s veterans would be missing at least one regular season game, and Slater reflected this in his account. It makes sense to give Curry and Paul a break in the same game since the Warriors gain the most from their spending time together. For the majority of this season, Paul has been starting alongside Curry. While their minutes may be staggered at times to maximize lineup efficiency, Paul and Curry have historically worked well together on the court. While Curry and Paul have started off strong, their continued success may depend on the health of Raymond Green. So far, the Warriors’ training camp has paid dividends, but the team still has work to do before the start of the regular season. The Warriors are dead set on claiming another championship with their current roster, but they are well aware that their window of opportunity to do so is rapidly closing.
