Nagelsmann’s Debut Delight: Germany Roars Back to Beat the United States 3-1

The Germans won for the second time in a row in the last month, with goals from Sane, Fullkrug, and Musiala.

In Nagelsmann’s first game in charge, Germany rallied to defeat the United States 3-1.

Unfortunately for Coach Nagelsmann, ‘Conductor’ Joshua Kimmich was injured and would not be able to play in either of the two exhibition games scheduled for this meeting.

The former Bayern Munich manager opted to use the 4-2-3-1 configuration that is favoured by the German squad. Pascal Groß, a midfielder, made his national team debut, and Gundogan, the captain, started beside him. Niclas Fullkrug is backed up by offensive midfielders Wirtz, Musiala, and Sane. Hummels, a veteran midfielder who had been away from the squad for two years, was thrust back into the starting lineup upon his return.

Despite playing in an away game, the German squad is still statistically better than their opponents. A total of 625 passes were made by Nagelsmann’s team, and 19 shots were taken, compared to only 6 by the United States.

The host team trailed for much of the game, but they ended the first half as the game’s leaders. In the 27th minute, Pulisic, the team captain, scored on a superb individual effort with a pass that cut in from the left side and into the middle of the goal. through Rudiger, and then let go with a dangerous curving shot that left Ter Stegen helpless. Germany had an earlier opportunity to score on a combination play in the center of the field. After Florian Wirtz passed the ball, Pascal Groß raced up to score, but the ball struck the post.

After falling down, Germany persisted in their attacks and eventually tied the game in the 39th minute when Gundogan scored. Sane drove the ball up the middle, set up Gundogan for a 2-on-1, and then passed back to him for the score.

Fullkrug and Jamal Musiala scored for Germany in the second half, and their side went on to win 3-1. Musiala had excellent control of the ball and found Gosens for a pass in the 58th minute. Union Berlin’s defensive back set up a close-range goal for Fullkrug. Three minutes later, rising sensation Musiala also capitalized on a golden opportunity inside the box to put the game away for his team.

With a win in his first game in charge, Julian Nagelsmann got off to a great start with the national team. Young talents like Wirtz and Musiala are being utilized as the German squad gradually shapes the framework for next year’s championship. Germany will play Mexico in their last exhibition match on October 17 in Philadelphia.
