On Wednesday at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, the Celtics beat the 76ers 112-101. This was their first win in preseason play. There was no big rotation for the Celtics on Wednesday, so Payton Pritchard led the way again. If they played at all, those players only saw the court for the first half.

With their win on Wednesday, the C’s ended a stretch of three games in four nights. After sitting out Monday’s loss to the Knicks, only Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were not on the court Wednesday. In the same way that the 76ers chose to be without Joel Embiid and James Harden, the Celtics chose to be without their stars. The C’s have now won two of their first three training games.

The score was tied at 72–72 in the middle of the third quarter. The Celtics then went on a 22–6 run to take the lead and stay ahead for good. In that spot, Pritchard and the rest of the bench continued to show the coaches how to play well. During the preseason, the role players and guys at the end of the bench are still competing for playing time and spots on the team.
