Today, Rishi Sunak spoke with English athletes as he celebrated winning the bid to host the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Following Uefa’s announcement that the tournament will be held in the UK and Ireland in four years, the PM posed with manager Gareth Southgate, Declan Rice, and teammates while gushing over his ‘wonderful’ recollections of the 1996 competition.

On a visit to the St George’s Park training ground in East Staffordshire, Mr Sunak said he expected the competition to provide a ‘massive boost’ to the economy.
