After games, what does Celtics forward Jayson Tatum like to eat with his family?
Tacos are what made him think of his new Jordan 34 PE colorway.
The Celtics beat the Indiana Pacers 114–111 on Tuesday, and Tatum debuted his unique Air Jordan “Taco Jay” shoes during the game. It could not have been a better day to wear them—it was Taco Tuesday, a name made famous by Lakers forward LeBron James and Tatum’s partner Tacko Fall.
The “Taco Jay” sneakers have details that look like all the tasty parts of a taco: The shoe is a gold color that looks like a tortilla shell. The tongue is lined in green and cut into the shape of lettuce, and the orange heel has a taco emoji on it to represent cheese.
There are bits of red in the stitching and on the pull tab, which could be meant to look like salsa. The inside of the tongue of all of his Jordan 34 PEs has his son’s nickname, “Deuce,” written on it.
Tatum signed with Jordan Brand in June of last year. His favorite foods are reflected in many of his Jordan 34 PE sneakers, such as the “Chinese Takeout” sneakers and the “Lemonade” sneakers, which are named after his favorite drink.
Tatum said on Air Jordan’s website that the Jordan 34 player edition shoes help him do better in the game. “Every Air Jordan shoe is great, but the XXXIV really stands out.” While I’m on the court, it keeps me stable and calm.
