Both teams threw caution to the breeze in a tremendously entertaining contest that either team may have won on another day.

Simon Adingra snatched the ball from former Brighton player Alexis Mac Allister and finished brilliantly to give Albion a well-earned first goal.

Liverpool appeared to be lacking a real defensive midfielder, as Adingra in particular was causing a lot of problems.

The visitors appeared to have a somewhat open back line, but the hosts were unable to extend their lead, and Liverpool quickly regained control of the game.

Mo Salah calmly equalized five minutes before halftime after a great team move including Darwin Nunez, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Luis Diaz.

When Pascal Gross fouled Szoboszlai, Jurgen Klopp’s team was awarded a penalty, which improved the situation. Salah blasted past misses from behind him to make it 2-1.

At halftime, Harvey Elliot was replaced by Ryan Gravenberch, and the unproductive player almost immediately had an impact, hitting the crossbar at the backpost when he had a chance to score.

Even though they had lost the game, Brighton remained a threat. Alisson made an outstanding one-on-one stop to keep Adingra out.

Lewis Dunk scored the match’s fastest goal after Liverpool, who had been doing well to keep the hosts quiet, were caught off guard by a free-kick when Solly March’s ball in eluded everyone.

Joao Pedro had time to pick a spot and hammered the ball over from close range, giving Brighton the victory.

Finally, each team had to settle for a point because they were unable to win.

Liverpool’s players are ranked as follows:

Alisson – 6: Was caught off guard by Brighton’s goal and was unable to stop it. Redeeming himself, he made a spectacular save to keep Adingra out. was helpless to prevent Dunk’s goal. came off his line with precision to eliminate the potential threat.

Trent Alexander-Arnold-7: Keep Kaoru Mitoma is mostly deafeningly quiet. A few brilliant interceptions, including one that denied Mitoma from going one-on-one with an outstretched leg in the second half. replaced after Brighton’s second goal

Joel Matip-7: Put in a terrific showing and recovered well from his own goal the previous weekend. At 2-1, Konate took over.

Virgil van Dijk – 6: Bad pass to Mac Allister before Brighton’s opener. Despite massive protestations from the supporters – and the manager, who was booked as a result – he appeared to handle the ball following Mitoma’s inaccurate shot. Defense is often robust.

Andrew Robertson – 6: He had his job cut out for him against the vivacious Adingra. made a few dangerous offensive runs. March’s free throw went through him, bringing the score to 2-2.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 7: Assumed a more advanced role. In the first half, he was quiet, but he was part in the buildup to Salah’s first goal. Gross was called for a foul in order to receive the penalty. Gravenberch’s great cross should have been turned in at the back post. The tough challenge is scheduled for March.

Alexis MacAllister – 5: Made his Premier League debut against the team for which he made 98 appearances. When he was tackled by goalscorer Adingra, he was largely to fault for the opening goal. He was playing far deeper than he did for Brighton and battling out of his preferred position before Gravenberch relieved him of the load. It was fortunate that I was not arrested following a string of cynical fouls. Some excellent passing in attacking zones.

Alexis MacAllister is a Liverpool 2023-24 midfielder.

Harvey Elliott – 5: First Premier League appearance of the season. It was wise of him to leave the ball for Salah to equalize. Otherwise, he was quiet and didn’t say much defensively. Ryan Gravenberch took over at halftime.

Mo Salah – 8: He handled both of his goals superbly. Class is permanent and will be relieved to finally score from the spot after some horror misses. obtained advantageous attacking positions

Darwin Nunez – 6: Never seemed like scoring, but he worked hard. Salah has a nice assist. Allow Dunk to sprint by him to tie the game at 2-2.

6: Luis Diaz Today wasn’t going so well for him. Worked hard in attack and defence but had a number of wayward shots. Should have done better with chance in the second half

Substitutes:

Ryan Gravenberch – 7: Came on at half-time in an expected change to provide more protection in midfield. Looked destined to score but hit the crossbar. Tame shot easily saved. Good impact.

Ibrahima Konate – 5: Statuesque for Brighton’s equaliser – didn’t cover himself in glory after replacing Matip. Left Pedro unmarked and the Brazilian should have scored

Joe Gomez – 6: Came on in immediate aftermath of Brighton’s second goal. Helped Liverpool to preserve a point. Booked for cynical foul on Mitoma
