When discussing why the rest of the league is afraid of the Phoenix Suns squad this season, it’s a smart idea to start with them. Indeed, nobody is genuinely afraid. The Suns aren’t giving anyone nightmares, so nobody is staying up late worrying about them. Every player believes that their team has a strong chance to be a great team.
But the Suns are a club that can and probably will contend for a championship, as everyone knows. But teams shouldn’t be alarmed by that. Instead, what Bradley Beal stated about Devin Booker on Media Day is what should terrify the club and the league as a whole.
The Suns’ big three already genuinely compliment one another.
One of the top players in the league and, in my opinion, one of the top three guards, is Devin Booker. In general, I think that statement is true. The absurd thing is that he is improving. It is evident to the supporters, the media, and everybody else who follows this team.
It feels amazing, though, to hear another player say it and to hear him say it that way.
Beal stated, “It can only get better based on the player’s current caliber.” And seeing that is a little unsettling. I’m thrilled to see that he can reach the point where we know he can tap into whatever it is because he can still become better, and I’m going to keep pushing him for it. Like me, he still has room to grow and get better. I believe he’s only now beginning to scrape the surface.
Chris Paul was the person Devin Booker needed to help him take the next step, and he did. He enhanced his teammates and became a more capable playmaker and leader. His versatility in scoring also increased. He will only get better from here on out with Beal and Durant.
Both Beal and Kevin Durant, one of the best scorers in sports history, have previously led the league in scoring. Playing alongside them in the games will improve his overall offensive game in addition to helping him improve even more as a scorer at practice when he plays against them.
It’s scary, Bradley Beal is right. He currently ranks among the league’s top players. Yes, he is.
