Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant isn’t one to sit on the sidelines, so he’s branching out into the restaurant industry. In Oklahoma City, a new restaurant by the name of “Kd’s Southern Cuisine” debuted last month. Whether or not it will be a success remains to be seen.
Kd’s Southern Cuisine, unlike other athlete-themed vanity restaurants, doesn’t seem to be aiming for the high-end sports bar crowd with its cuisine. Tomatoes are a good example of a ‘finger’ protein. Other examples of ‘finger’ proteins are fried chicken fingers and fried fish fingers. In addition to a variety of steaks, hearty eaters can choose from dishes like southern-style meatloaf and smothered pork chop. A lip-smackin’ touchdown!
Even though the website and menu are decked out in Oklahoma City Thunder colors, you won’t find any “Slam Dunk Salads!” or “Three-Point Dipping Sauces” here.
Until you come to the “Baller Menu.” Yeah, son.
Article by Oklahoman contributor Dave Cathey:
KD and his NBA buddies will probably order from the Baller Menu, a private dining area enclosed in glass that frosts with the flip of a button. New York strip and Tomahawk rib-eye are two cuts of premium beef featured on the Baller Menu. It also has iced shellfish collections and tenderloin medallions with toast points.
The Baller Menu’s Baller Menu. Cool, dish.
In addition to praising the variety of options available, Cathey proclaimed Kd’s Southern Cuisine’s menu “the most spectacular in town” on account of its ability to illuminate itself whenever the cover is opened. And that’s not even the high-class Baller Menu they have there!
Ballroom Food.
In all seriousness, we have to give respect to Durant and his staff for putting up a menu that isn’t replete with jalapeo poppers and poor commentary. This man has used Yelp twice in his life, both times in an angry manner, and he approves of any menu that includes collard greens and grits. The goal is in!
