Now that NBA Media Days are over, the Los Angeles Lakers had their first workout of training camp on Tuesday.
After a successful offseason, this Lakers team has high hopes for the season. Things look good so far as Darvin Ham said after practice that everyone was healthy and ready to play.
The Lakers head coach wouldn’t pick a favorite because he said everyone looked good, but rookie Jalen Hood-Schifino stood out to some Lakers players in his first NBA practice. Hood-Schifino was picked in the first round.
D’Angelo Russell at first agreed with Ham that he shouldn’t pick a favorite player, but he changed his mind and finally said that Hood-Schifino impressed him.
“Everyone, man. He said, “I don’t want to do all that.” “I would praise everyone on the team if I could.” I’m going to give you one. It was great to see Jalen Hood-Schifino play today. He fired shots and went after it.
When asked how the new guys looked, Austin Reaves also said Hood-Schifino’s name.
“They’re a new group, but those guys are really talented and willing to do what we want, and it showed today,” Reaves said. “I believe there were many chances to learn.” You said they could play on the go, and it was great because you could see how they responded to what you said. The new guys looked good, and Jalen Hood-Schifino had a great first day. We’re really excited.”
Hood-Schifino was picked 17th overall by the Lakers out of Indiana. They hope he can become their future point guard. Hood-Schifino, on the other hand, showed in the Summer League that he still needs to work on his game a lot before he can be a good NBA player. He seems to have made a lot of progress since then.
During his first season, Hood-Schifino will be able to learn a lot from both Russell and Reaves in the backcourt and LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the frontcourt.
The Lakers have a lot of guards, so he probably won’t get many minutes right away. However, the best way to get on the court in games is to impress your friends and coaches in practice.
