Man United might have a busy month.
As Erik ten Hag’s reign appears to be coming to an end, Manchester United is experiencing its worst-ever start to a Premier League season. However, rumors from the end of August suggest that fans looking for a takeover to usher in a thrilling new age at Old Trafford would soon have their wish granted.
The Glazer family declared a year ago in November that they were conducting a strategic assessment with the goal of finding other investments, including a possible sale.
The startling procedure, however, might not go that far because Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is expected to finish taking over this month.
In August, The Sun reported that Sheikh Jassim was expected to finalize a £6 billion agreement to purchase United by the middle of October.
According to the story, Sheikh Jassim defeated British millionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the race, and his Qatari team was finishing up their due diligence before seizing power.
The Glazers were reportedly alerted to the possible consequences of remaining in M16, including increased supporter anger as the Old Trafford protests persisted.
But the Sun also pointed out that an announcement might have been made as early as September, but it never materialized due to persistent rumors about the Glazers’ desire to sell.
Sheikh Jassim has pledged to pay off the debt that United accrued under the Glazer administration in order to avoid incurring any more costs and to stop receiving dividend payments.
The latter is a key cause of resentment against the unpopular American owners, who since their disputed £800 million takeover in 2005 have presided over a gross debt of £725 million.
The debt of United is at its greatest point since 2010, but aside from The Sun’s audacious article, there hasn’t been much evidence suggesting Glazers’ departure was likely.
If Sheikh Jassim succeeds in his quest, he also intends to make significant investments in the club’s Carrington training facilities and the renovation of Old Trafford.
According to more recent reports from other sources, Ratcliffe is reworking his most recent bid to be more in line with the Glazers’ demands and is still very much in the running.
In the event that the Glazers decide to hold onto power at Old Trafford, they still have possibilities for minority investments.
However, according to a source from The Sun from about six weeks ago, Sheikh Jassim has emerged victorious and will soon be officially announced as United’s new owner.
In light of the team’s ongoing troubles on the field, many fans would appreciate this news.
